If you haven’t heard of them before, pocket bikes are miniature motorcycles that originally came from Japan where they were used for racing. Today in the United States, pocket bikes are used for entertainment as well as racing. When you first take a look at the two foot tall machines you might think they are for kids, but in reality they are for adults more than kids. In fact gas powered bikes, especially something as big as a 110cc pocket bike, should only be used by adults. Electric powered mini pocket bikes are okay for kids but only under strict supervision and all the right protective gear including a full face helmet.
Over ten years ago, professional pocket bike racing started gaining ground and becoming popular overseas but only recently has become popular in the United States. Racing these mini bikes is not only done in Japan but other countries as well like Italy, the UK, Australia, most of Europe, and the US. Most original super pocket bikes were Italian Ducatis but many manufactures have begun development and there are now several different brands to choose from.
100cc Super Pocket Bike Racing
110cc pocket bikes are very powerful machines that are used primarily for racing. Minimoto or Mini GP is the official name for these races. There are more powerful bikes such as the 125cc super pocket bike available but they only just came on the market a year or two ago. Because they are not as readily available as 110cc pocket rockets, the 110cc is the more popular model. Other than the obvious engine size difference, they are quite similar. Both mini bikes have most of the features of a normal motorcycle like headlights and a kickstand as well as others.
The 110cc pocket bike is a low to the ground fast little bike and is one of the top sizes, only under the 125cc pocket bike in power. But that is not to say that it is not powerful in it’s own right. A 110cc super pocket bike can reach speeds of over 60 mph with just stock parts. Further modifications can add at least another 8-10 mph for top speeds of around 75 mph. Now that may not seem like much compared to full size motorcycle racing, but believe me with only a inch or two between your leg and the ground it’s plenty fast. The rush of riding these pocket bikes so low to the ground is a major reason they are so popular. Also it’s a lot cheaper to get into Minimoto racing than full size racing.
110cc Super Pocket Bike Prices
When 110cc super pocket bikes were introduced, they started out at over $4,000 but as time went on and more manufactures got into the game, prices went down. Chinese models have decreased the cost even more
down to only about $200-$300 for the cheapest and least effective models. Of course buying that cheap has its drawbacks. Maintenance alone makes buying a better, more expensive brand, a more logical choice. Also you generally get better performance out of a better brand. The old saying of, “You get what you pay for” is true.
You can find 110cc mini bikes online or in motorcycle shops around the country. Many times it’s cheaper to buy online but watch for the shipping fees as shipping from overseas can be expensive. I would recommended checking out your local pocket bike dealers before making a decision. Even if you don’t find the best price their, many times a professional will be able to point you in the right direction to a shop that does have what you’re looking for or at least help you make a decision as to which type of mini bike you need.
